More and more critical applications are being developed or migrated using microservices, because of their scalability and flexibility. Microservices are individual units of software that combine to provide all the functions needed for a browser application. But they must be protected from malware propagation in a different way because they communicate in a different way.
Microsegmentation can help you stop unauthorized communication between services and applications, so malware cannot propagate through your enterprise landscape. But microsegmentation policies based on IP addresses ands ports will not protect microservices. They communicate using Application Programming Interfaces, so your microsegmentation policies must be executed at the API layer.
